چکیده

A substance immunochemically cross-reactive with insulin (SICRI) appears in melanoma B16 growing in diabetic and nondiabetic CS7BL/6 mice. Progression of tumor size is paralleled by the increase of SICRI levels in the serum of both diabetic and nondiabetic animals; this increase correlates with a decreased concentration of circulating glucose and an elevated concentration of growth hormone in blood. Melanoma B16 grown under serum-free culture conditions secretes SICRI into the medium. Affinity-purified SICRI stimulates glucose uptake by rat epididymal adipocytes and competes with radiolabeled insulin for binding to these cells. Low concentrations of SICRI enhance growth of cultured melanoma B16 cells, whereas high concentrations of this substance have inhibitory growth effects on these cells. Porcine insulin, human insulin-like growth factors I and II, human growth hormone, platelet-derived growth factor, epidermal growth factor, and fibroblast growth factor have negligible influence on growth of melanoma B16.

Multiple Low Doses of 5-Fluorouracil Diminishes Immunosuppression by Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells in Murine Melanoma Model

Background: Melanoma progression and metastasis is suggested to be mediated by increased accumulation of myeloid derived suppressor cells. Various chemotherapeutic drugs such as 5-Fluorouracil in single low concentration have the capacity, at least in part, to reverse tumor progression by reducing myeloid derived suppressor cellsmediated immunosuppression. Objective: To assess whether multiple ...

Anti-tumor Effect of Ginkgo biloba Exocarp Extracts on B16 Melanoma Bearing Mice Involving P I3K/Akt/HIF-1α/VEGF Signaling Pathways

The objective of this study is to investigate the anti-tumor effect of Ginkgo biloba exocarp extracts (GBEE) on B16 melanoma bearing mice and its related molecular mechanisms. The B16-F10 melanoma solid tumor model was established in C57BL/6J mice. The tumor-bearing mice were treated with GBEE (50, 100, 200 mg/kg), taking cis-Dichlorodiamineplatinum (Ⅱ) (DDP, 3 mg/kg) as pos...

The role of microRNA-30a and downstream snail1 on the growth and metastasis of melanoma tumor

Objective(s): Growing evidences have indicated microRNAs as modulators of tumor development and aggression. On the other hand, a phenomenon known as epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) that indicates a transient phase from epithelial-like features to mesenchymal phenotype is a key player in tumor progression.  In this study, we aimed to assess the potential impacts...
